Invasion America: Part Deux picks up a few weeks after the final events at the end of 2011's game. The short version is that the American Defenders held the line along the Rocky Mountains and managed to hold onto Hill Air Force Base. The Invading forces managed to secure the Dugway Proving Grounds. And that is where we pick up the story approximately 3 weeks later on September 22nd, 2012. THE MOST IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE 2012 GAME is that this year, the battle will be fought on 2 separate fronts ON 2 SEPARATE FIELDS! This year, the CartCon1 field in College Grove (near Franklin, about 30 minutes down the road from the Bad Karma field) will help to host the game. OH YEAH!
The primary battle in this year's game is for the Dugway Proving Grounds and that battle will be fought on the Bad Karma Field. While that battle is going on, the CartCon1 field will host secondary firefights representing attacks on different parts of the country. BOTH fields outcomes will have a direct impact on where the story goes for the final year in 2013. Since this is an experimental year and the first time we are doing this, only points scored on the Bad Karma field will determine a winning side for the purposes of score keeping (you'll understand why when the scenario gets posted the day before signups). Points scored at the CartCon1 field will DIRECTLY affect the starting positions of both sides in 2013 so it is still vitally important for players taking part in the war on the CartCon1 field to take it very seriously. If all goes as planned, in 2013 when we hold the final battle for the future of the country we will expand the war to 3, possibly 4 fields total and the war will be fought on many fronts, like it would in real life. The cost to play in the game is $40 no matter which field you play on. Your $40 gets you the same things on either field.
When the forum opens on June 5th at 5PM, please keep a couple of things in mind...
1) Veterans from the 2011 game have an additional 48 hours to get themselves signed up. Participation has it's benefits, eh.
2) To retain VETERAN STATUS, a 2011 player MUST REMAIN ON THE SAME SIDE THEY PLAYED ON in 2011.
3) ONLY VETERANS will be allowed to determine which field they will be playing on to begin with
4) First time players and slots will be placed into slots on the Bad Karma field first and once they are full, remaining slots will be filled on the CartCon1 field.
Example: 180 total slots for the Bad Karma Field. If returning veterans fill 110 of those and 40 decide to play on the CartCon1 field, then the next 70 slots will be filled on the Bad Karma field before we fill any more CartCon1 slots.
Game Day times at the moment are similar to 2011. Play times will run from 8AM until approximately 7PM. This is a continually running game. Unless there is a stand down for lunch, the game NEVER stops until it ends around 7PM. Missions are doled out "Scenario Style" to side commanders much the same way they would be received in real life. Commanders on each side have COMPLETE CONTROL over the direction of the game. Which missions get run, what resources get deployed, etc. are ALL decided by your teams' leaders. Victory or failure of your side depends on how well you work together as a team.
There will only be 2 color schemes (down from 4 last year) and one color scheme used by mercenaries who will be deployable by either side, on either field. DOH!!!! Mercenaries will ONLY BE ALLOWED TO BE PLAYED BY NEW PLAYERS TO THIS YEAR'S GAME!!! And they will be in short supply. Sorry vets, you old dogs know all the tricks in the book, this year we're gonna see what the new players can come up with.
Between the two fields, we are looking to fill around 300 slots. We will probably run out like usual so it is vital that you get your name onto the list as soon as possible come June 5th. Directions for getting onto that list can be found in the Invasion America forum. The sign up topic is currently LOCKED and will only open at 5PM on the 5th. More details as we get closer to signups boys! Damn I swear, the buildup is almost as much fun as the game itself, lol
