COLOMBIAN BLEND VI: GAMEDAY FAQ

Q. When is Colombian BLend:V?
A. September 18th, 2010. The field gates open at 5:00PM the day before and we will be playing until 9:30PM that night.

Q. Who gets to play in Colombian Blend:VI?
A. Everyone is invited to play in CB:VI. We have people that show up to play from all over the state and the surrounding states. It is the largest airsoft event in Tennessee each year. You can only get in to play though, if you have reserved a slot. The final count for CB:VI is 175 slots. If you are not on the list, then you will not be allowed to play in CB:VI. Non-players are encouraged to come and watch the game, but you will be required to wear bright orange.

Q. How much does it cost to play?
A. It costs $35 to reserve a slot.

Q. What are the age limits to play in CB:VI?
A. If you are 14 or under, you will need a parent to to the event with you. They can either play along with you, or they may stay and watch the game itself. 15 and over can come by themselves. Like normal Bad Karma playdates, a single parent may come with up to 6 (six) people for carpooling purposes.

Q. What are the rules for the game itself?
A. Normal Bad Karma playdate rules are in effect for the event.

Q. How is the game played?
A. Much of the game follows the gameplay styles that we play all year. There are certain things that are different. Once the game begins, it runs non-stop except for breaks for lunch and dinner. other than those two times, the entire field is in play. For details on how the game plays, please visit the event page.

Q. How do you handle playing at night?
A. The game goes until around 9:30PM. It will get dark around 8PM. We bring out two big sets of stadium lights and stick them at either end of the Switzerland field pointing toward each other and out into the woods all around. Each compound has lights strung all through them. A large portion of the playing field is lit. The outer areas are not and you will have to rely on the moon for light (or flashlights) if you choose to go out that far. No mission will actually require players to go way out into the dark though, but it sure makes for some interesting gameplay.

Q. Is night vision allowed?
A. No. Unequivocally no. No night vision of any kind is allowed into CB:V. It makes it unfair for those who cannot afford it, plus it takes away the fun of playing in the dark. Do not bring night vision to the field for CB:VI

Q. I live a good deal away from the field. Is camping allowed?
A. Yes. Camping will be allowed both Friday night and Saturday night. You will be tired when this is over, it lasts for about 14 hours. If you would like to sleep at the field, you are more than welcome to do so.

Q. My parents want to come and watch/ take pictures. Do you allow this?
A. YUP! Bring them on. We encourage parents to come and watch. In fact, if they would like to help ref the event that would be great. PM me if they are interested. I will see to it that not only do they get to eat for free, but that YOU get a slot to play

Q. I'm scared of the dark
A. Get over it. You don't want to miss this.

Q. What are the family dress requirements?
A. Please check the team rosters to see what your side will be wearing color wise. Like normal BK playdates, we go by the color of your SLEEVES. Please do not show up for a family with the wrong colors on. I will make an example out of you and make you wear either bright flourescent ORANGE OR YELLOW DUCT TAPE all over yourself. You will be an easy target, so make sure that you have the right colors on.

Q. What medic rules will be in effect for CB:VI?
A. All teams will adhere to the normal medic rules: Medics will be using the new method using masking tape to revive the dead. Dragging will NOT be allowed

Q. What role will the ref's and advisors be playing?
A. There will be no advisors for CB:VI. Family heads will be on their own when it comes to a command structure. They are a permanent part of their assigned family. The people who will be acting as family heads know how the game works. They may decide to have a full staff to help them out or they may decide to go it "lone wolf" style.
Referee's will be stationed around the field in various locations and will be responsible for monitoring the area to validate completed missions and mission failures. They will also assist me in putting out items for use in the game at certain times. Referees will have the final say in hit/ not hit disputes as well. If a ref calls you hit, then you were hit. Do not argue with the refs. Field Marshall's will also be on the field.

Q. What are the rules concerning the looting of bodies?
A. The ONLY thing that can be looted off of a dead body will be any type of backpack or briefcase they may be carrying. Families will not be told in advance if someone they have just killed was someone they were supposed to check for loot. You are expected to do it on your own. If you suspect someone of carrying something lootable, then once they are dead, you are free to search them. Do not be an ass about it, if they are not carrying a backpack or satchel of some type, then odds are they are not carrying anything. If you are carrying something and are looted, again, don't be an ass, let them look and if they find it, oh well, you should have been more careful.

Q. If you are carrying loot and you die, can you immediately walk off the field to respawn?
A. If you are carrying and you die, you may attempt to walk off the field to respawn, but if you are called out to stop to wait and be searched, then you MUST do so. The enemy has the opportunity to search you before you walk out if they see fit to. If you are carrying loot in CB:VI, you are required to drop it on the ground before you walk out if you are not stopped and asked to be searched. Drop it very non-chalantly and it will likely still be there when you come back into the game. You can then retrieve it and continue on your way.

Q. What is the neutral zone & where will it be?
A. The neutral zone is the area that I inhabit during the game. It will be somewhere near the missile battery area, but not the missile battery itself. This is my central area for running the game. The neutral area will be visibly marked and there is no shooting into or out of it at any time during the game. Business can be conducted in safety while inside the neutral zone. Teams may leave in any direction they choose to and will IMMEDIATELY be vulnerable to fire once they leave the area. There is no camping of the neutral zone and it will be my descretion as to whether or not you are camping. If I think you are camping it, I will tell you to move on.

Q. Will we be able to take captives?
A. Uh, no. There is no taking captives in the game. Anything like that will be done with actual dummies. Any escort missions that may involve live persons being escorted will not be capturable. If the escortee is left alone due to the escort being killed off, he will stand where is he is until the escort family returns or time runs out on the mission. Escortees will be played by refs who will NOT be wearing their ref vests. If you happen to kill off an escorting family team, then you should check the escortee for valuable info and then stay with him until the end of the hour if your family thinks that is important.

Q. Is it possible to take a rival family's stash?
A. Not if they have any common sense :) Otherwise, if you can get to it, then sure, have at it. There are set starting points at the beginning of a game but there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING stopping a side from overruning a particular compound and searching it for loot or even taking control of it and holding it. Doing so can dramatically alter the outcome of the game.

Q. Exactly what determines who wins?
A. Practically everything in the game has a point value associated with it. Either money for your family for completing an objective or depriving a rival family of money by stopping them from completing theirs. As the day progresses, I will be keeping a count of all points won or lost. Some times, money won or lost will be given or taken right away and at other times, it will be done during a break. At the end of the game, every family will return to me their remaining stash which is sealed and then counted by me and me alone sometime before Monday afternoon. A winner will be posted sometime on the following Monday, here on the website.
The final point counts of all families, who accomplished what, who lost what, and every family's COMPLETE TIMELINE will be posted for everyone to see. That way everyone who played will be able to see what everyone else was doing all during the day. You would be surprised at how many people go "Crap! I KNEW they were doing something" when they see the other timelines. You will be surprised at what your family missed and also picked up on and it's always an interesting read.

Q. How does the raffle work?
A. The raffle will take place during the dinner downtime. Everyone attending the game will get two (2) free raffle tickets. More may be purchased for $5 each if you like.
The raffle works like this...Only one big prize can be awarded PER PERSON. If you win a big prize, you are not eligible for any other big prize, but you may still win as many smaller ones as you have tickets left. Every prize that is given away, the winning ticket is TAKEN OUT OF THE DRAWING. So, if you only have one ticket and you win a small prize right off the bat, you have no chance of winning a big prize. That's why it's good to have more than one ticket. We are currently talking to sponsors of previous year's games as well as many new sponsors, but right now, we are raffling off at least 3 AEG's, a pistol, another custom painted gaming computer rig and a lot of smaller stuff. As more game sponsors come on board, I'll post links to them and add to the raffle roster.

Q. What time does the game end?
A. The game will end around 9:30PM

Q. If I reserve a slot and cannot make the game, can I get a refund?
A. Up through the first of September, you can get a refund on your slot fee. After that, all of the money gets committed and it is not possible to refund slot money. If something happens after September 1 and you cannot make the game, you can opt to have someone else take over your slot and they can simply pay you back for it. The other option is that your $35 will go DIRECTLY to your next year's field dues and you can consider yourself paid up for the following year at the field. I don't want you to lose your money if something comes up, but after September 1, I won't have any of it left to refund as it all goes to the game.

Q. Can someone take over my slot if I cannot make the game?
A. Yes, but that will have to be worked out between the two of you.

Q. What happens if the game gets postponed or something
A. The ONLY reason this game will get postponed is due to "that which shall not be named" and if it does, I will make every effort to reschedule the game so that everyone who has paid for a slot can still make it (you don't want to miss this game), but if you cannot make the reschedule date, please see the above question and answer, again because once we pass August 25th, everyone's money gets spent for the game and cannot be refunded.
